A crown, also known as a cap, covers a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, thereby strengthening and improving its overall appearance.
A crown may be recommended to cover and support a tooth with a large filling. A crown can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking, or restore one that is already broken.
There are three main types of dental crowns. Each designed for different applications. Metal gold crowns are particularly suitable for posterior teeth exposed to heavy chewing forces.
Porcelain or ceramic crowns, offer excellent aesthetic results and closely match the appearance of natural teeth. They blend seamlessly in with your smile.
Finally, Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crowns combine the strength of metal with the cosmetic appeal of porcelain. This type of crown is often recommended for load-bearing teeth that are visible when you smile.

Terrific! Friendly helpful ladies @ the front desk; the best hygienist Michelle who spends the better part of an hour cleaning my teeth with helpful tips & explanations of what's up & offers a variety of toothpaste flavors from bubble gum to mint; last but not least the great Dr. Mannelly who does fine work such as providing a really fine crown & whatever else is necessary for the good of the patient.
Dr. Mannelly is a very skillful dentist who is easy to establish a non-patronizing relationship with. He explains things thoroughly and is willing to discuss his recommendations and answer questions. They are always positive, constructive and seem to only do the work that is really required. More recently, he prepared a crown for an implant. The fit was good and it was installed expertly More recently at a cleaning, my hygienist Michelle reported that our carefully crafted program has reversed the process of gum recession! No surgery is in my future! After so many good experiences, I have recommended Magnolia to my family! Now my wife as moved to Magnolia as well.
After losing a crown, they where able to have me come in within an hour and repair the loose crown.
I broke my back molar on a Thursday night and my dentist was out of town, so she recommended I call Dr. Mannely. Not only did he squeeze me in on a Friday afternoon, but he did the crown right away, but first he called the pick up service AND the lab to be sure it would be ready by the next Friday for me to leave on vacation. He saved my tooth, my weekend, and my vacation…! He and his long time assistant, Michelle, expertly work together. I felt like I was in very capable hands, and I was SO relieved to have my tooth fixed. I walked out of their with a temp crown, zero pain, and a smile.
I am 68 years old and I have had a lot of dental work through the years including implants, bridges and crowns. He is the only dentist that I can trust 100%. I had a bad experience with another dentist who took 5 weeks to get me a crown for an implant, and it looked terrible. Due to Dr. Tobias's support, I was able to get a full refund and he made me a beautiful crown in 2 weeks. His work is impeccable!
